Oswald’s Social Circle
These articles critically analyze August 1963 events in New Orleans involving Lee Harvey Oswald, arguing that local anti-Castro operatives - notably Guy Banister, Carlos Bringuier, Bill Stuckey, and Edward Butler - orchestrated a staged Fair Play for Cuba Committee (FPCC) episode that used Oswald as a provocateur. Drawing on Warren Commission testimony and contemporary media accounts, the author presents a scenario in which Banister’s circle created a fake FPCC presence, provoked public confrontations, arranged arrests, and manufactured publicity (radio/TV appearances and press) to portray Oswald with leftist credentials while undermining the FPCC.
